July 1st, 2010 - Final Fantasy XIV Release Date

This breaks producer Hiromichi Tanaka’s just recent promise that “the current plan” was for “a simultaneous launch” on both platforms. Of course, he may be talking about the North American version as these are the European release dates. Although, Amazon is already listing the PS3 game for March 31, 2011 while the PC version sits happily at September 23, 2010.

According to the release, the PC version of the game will have a Collector’s Edition available to purchase. It’ll include a behind-the-scenes DVD, a special-branded security token, a Final Fantasy XIV-branded tumbler, a map, a travel journal with concept art, the Onion Helm in-game item, and a thirty-day trial period for the game that allows a guest to play free fora limited time.

The monthly subscription fee is 12.99 euros a month which approximates to just about $15 or $16 dollars a month in USD.

I was relying on playing on ps3.

edit: Oh wait, this is only confirmation for the European release dates? Maybe there will still be a simultaneous platform launch for JP and NA! If so, yay September 30th!

I wasn't expecting that at all. If this turns out to be true I should have a Collector's Edition sitting on my doorstep on September 30th. icon_cheesygrin

Got an update guys. According to Kotaku, the Collector's Edition comes out eight days earlier (September 22nd) than the standard edition, which means those who adopt early will get just over a week extra before everyone else.

that's how I feel about the ps3 release date as well but oh well just means i'll be upgrading the pc some to get a little better performance till ps3 release

Have to wait and see if anything changes since the game was originally supposed to be on both platforms at the same release and I really dont see why they would have to wait 7 more months to do so....

That's a bummer for the guys that were planning on playing on PS3. I am fine with playing on my PC for 6 mnths before switching to the PS3 but I feel bad for others who need to wait 6 more months especially considering that SE has repeatedly told us there would be a simultaneous release date. All in all though, we got a release date which is awesome (so long as you can play on PC >.>)

This release date is so ummm out of the no where, i was expecting late November.
Good god i hope i don't completely have to drop all my classes in the fall due to no study time ;D

So if you order the Collector's Edition you miss out on the better of the two unique in-game items, the Garlond Goggles... This makes no sense, at all. I'd rather wait the extra 8 days to obtain a Skill-up Bonus item than some cheesy Onion Hat. Am I the only one whose noticed this?

6 months... something tells me the pushed it back so they can release on PS3 and 360 I hope not cuz that'd be really unfair.
